Craig Hoy has announced the launch of a search for a Local Hero who has made a positive difference to the lives of others in the South Scotland region.
From today, Craig is working to identify a constituent who will receive recognition for the important work they do to help others in their local community as a Local Hero.
Launching his campaign Craig said: “I know many people in the south of Scotland give their time and energy selflessly to their local community, to make a positive contribution to the lives of others - often without recognition.”
“I am really looking forward to receiving nominations for our Local Hero locally, perhaps from their friends, family, or work colleagues, maybe even from potential Local Heroes themselves. If you’ve got a good suggestion, please do nominate them.”
The selected Local Hero will join MSPs and other Local Heroes from across Scotland, at a special commemorative event on Saturday 29 June to mark 25 years of the Scottish Parliament. The event will mark almost 25 years to the day since the Scottish Parliament was officially opened on 1 July 1999. It will mark the achievements of the Parliament over the last 25 years as well as being a celebration of Scottish culture.
Nominations should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line ‘local hero’ with a short explanation of what the nominee does for the community and why they should be attending the special event.
Last day for nominations 24th May 2024.
