DUMFRIESSHIRE MSP Craig Hoy has praised the work of RH Youth Organisation after visiting its Activity Day in Lockerbie.
Mr Hoy toured the wide range of activities on offer, met with volunteers, young people and families, and heard first-hand about the positive impact the organisation is having locally.
RH Youth Organisation provides a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for children and young people aged 4–17 through initiatives including its Theatre Group and Outdoor Adventure Group. The charity helps young people develop confidence, build friendships and learn valuable life skills in a supportive setting.
Following the visit, Craig Hoy MSP said:
"It was great to attend RH Youth Organisation's Activity Day and see first-hand the outstanding work being carried out by Robert, Rebecca and their dedicated team of volunteers.
"The enthusiasm and commitment of everyone involved was clear to see. Organisations like RH Youth Organisation provide young people with opportunities to develop new skills, make lasting friendships and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
"It’s vital that we continue to support community organisations that make such a positive difference. They play an important role in improving young people's wellbeing by encouraging them to spend more time outdoors, taking part in healthy activities and engaging with others.
"The physical and mental health benefits of these opportunities are invaluable, and I would like to thank everyone involved for the fantastic contribution they make to young people and families in Lockerbie and the surrounding area."
Mr Hoy also encouraged local families to find out more about the organisation's work and the opportunities it provides for young people throughout the year.
