Following the declaration of a state of emergency in Dumfries and Galloway’s social care services, Scottish Conservative MSP Craig Hoy said: "The fact that SNP councillors voted to declare a state of emergency in care services across Dumfries and Galloway serves to show just how precarious the situation is. The SNP government must urgently now address the financial problems their lack of support has created in NHS Dumfries & Galloway and in the Health and Social Care Partnership.
"The growing problem of delayed discharge locally is down to years of neglect for rural health services and a repeated failure by ministers to get a grip of the workforce crisis they have created. It is shameful that the Scottish Government has allowed this crisis to escalate to such a level, and urgent action is needed."
