Local MSP and Conservative candidate Craig Hoy recently attended Langholm show alongside a Scottish Conservative team which included local MSP Oliver Mundell, local MP David Mundell and the party’s deputy leader Rachael Hamilton MSP.
Speaking after the show Mr Hoy said: “I was delighted to attend this year’s Langholm Show with Rachael, Oliver and David. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with local farmers and businesses, to hear about the issues facing the rural economy and to support one of the region’s most important agricultural and community events.
“Many residents in Langholm feel the town has been overlooked and representatives of the community raised very real concerns about the downgrading of bus services. I will engage key stakeholders and bus operators to ensure their views are heard and acted upon.”
The politicians met with representatives from the Langholm, Ewes and Westerkirk Community Council, NFUS, the Save Warblaw campaign and many local businesses and farmers.
Mr Hoy said he was happy to follow up on any local issues raised. He added: “Shows like Langholm are a real highlight of the year for the community and elected representatives who serve them. I was grateful to everyone who took the time to speak with me at the Scottish Conservative tent. If you didn’t get the chance to have a chat then please do get in touch to arrange a private surgery appointment. I will continue to champion rural communities both locally here in Dumfriesshire and in the Scottish Parliament.”
