Craig Hoy met with Chief Inspector Ben Leathes to discuss key policing matters affecting communities across East Lothian and the wider region.
During the meeting, they discussed several important issues, including drug misuse, anti-social behaviour and ways to tackle speeding.
Speaking after the meeting, Craig said: "It was good to catch up with Chief Inspector Leathes to discuss policing in East Lothian. Residents are rightly concerned about crime, anti-social behaviour and road safety, and it is vital that adequate policing resources are in place to address these issues.
"It was encouraging to hear instances of anti-social behaviour have decreased in recent weeks, thanks to the hard work of officers across the region. It is important that there is a visible police presence in our towns and villages so communities can engage with officers.”
Craig also raised concerns over the closure of three police stations in East Lothian, stressing the impact on response times and the visibility of officers in communities.
He added: "I also raised community concerns about the closure of three local police stations and the impact this could have on response times and police visibility. I have been contacted by many residents and I passed on their principal concerns.
“Communities deserve a strong and accessible police presence, and I will continue to push for greater investment in policing from the Scottish Government along with the effective deployment of police officers across our communities."
Craig also raised the issues of online “sextortion” and scams, which continue to badly affect all age groups across communities, and urges residents to act with caution.
