Dumfriesshire MSP Craig Hoy has attended a ceremony in Sanquhar Town Hall and the town's Tolbooth to mark Armed Forces Week.
Present at the flag-raising event were Deputy Lord Lieutenant Lady Ann Jack along with Community Council Chairman Dr Greg Black and local members of the Mid and Upper-Nithsdale community.
The event was attended by local schoolchildren, veterans, members of the community and representatives from the Armed Forces and the Royal British Legion.
Commenting after speaking at the event, Craig Hoy MSP said: "It was a pleasure to attend the flag-raising ceremony in Sanquhar to mark Armed Forces Week in Dumfriesshire. Our Armed Forces keep our communities safe and our country secure and it is fitting that they are recognised for their bravery, commitment and dedication."
He added: "It was good to see representatives of the Armed Forces, the British Legion, local schools and the community council present for the flag raising ceremony. Now, more than ever, we need to maintain and enhance our defences, and the British Army, Royal Naby and Air Force are critical to achieving this."
