MSP Craig Hoy is urging residents to nominate local businesses for the Love Local awards.
Scotland Loves Local is returning for its fifth anniversary and local MSP Craig Hoy is encouraging residents across South Scotland to get involved by nominating local businesses for the 2025 awards.
There are several awards, including national titles like Town of the Year but also more specific local awards for the south of Scotland as well.
Speaking recently Craig said: “I was privileged to take part in the Scotland Loves Local campaign last year, and I’m excited to get stuck in again this year.
“The awards are a great way to recognise quality local businesses and wider areas at a national level. Local businesses are truly the lifeblood of our towns and villages and without them our economy will keenly feel their demise.
“I want to see Scotland’s local economy thrive. That’s why the SNP Scottish Government must ensure it’s passing on the proper rates relief, supporting local business and shaping policy that reflects the current pressures traders are facing.”
Craig is urging residents to nominate both their favourite local businesses and the communities they call home.
He said: “It would be great to see as many South Scotland nominations as possible – whether that’s for individual businesses or for our area as a whole. The more the better, so get voting!”

Scotland Loves Local week this year is Saturday the 23rd of August to Saturday the 30th of August 2025.
